Last Sunday May 10th saw the Kennick Open Bank Competition with big cash prizes.

It was early start with 24 anglers booked in and all registered by 0800.

Thanks to Tom Hendy for cooking the bacon rolls on arrival and having the coffee on tap.

After a briefing by John Hern, anglers then had to draw for East or West Bank with a start number. Anglers then left the entry points in 1 minute intervals and were all on the water by 0900. Morning session was from 0930-1230 with a max of 3 fish in the morning. Several rods were back at the lodge within the hour having caught their 3.

At 1230 3 boats were sent to the causeway end to transfer anglers across the lake due to the causeway being closed.

The afternoon session went from 1330-1630 with the weigh in and 1700 and BBQ and results at 1730. The afternoon session was tougher as the NE wind had picked up.

23 anglers caught 78 fish for a bag weight of 178lbs. Average catch 3.39 and average weight was 2lbs 5oz.

Fish were caught in all areas of the lake.

Best flies were mainly pulled lures with the odd hawthorn still producing a few fish.
