Snowbee Top Rod Competition September 27th - Wimbleball Boats

Round 6 of the Snowbee Top Rod event was back at Wimbleball today high up on Exmoor.

Due to hot summer conditions and low water we hadn't fished since the end of May.

Wimbleball is currently at around 27% so most of the bank area is too dangerous to fish but the boats are still active.

We were met by Mark Underhill who sorted the boats out for us and we were away on the water by 0930.

Fishing was from 0930-1630 with the weigh in at 1700.

Weather conditions were generally cloudy with the odd glimpse of sun and we had an hours light rain around lunchtime, the wind was very variable and made drifting difficult.

Fish were caught in the Dam area, Upton Arm, Valentines and Arthurs Bay.

Best flies were fry patterns and blobs fished on Intermediate lines or DI 5.

11 Anglers caught 11 fish for a bag weight of 29.5lbs.

Average catch - 1

Average weight - 2.68lbs

5 Anglers failed to catch

Best Fish - Robert Gale 4lbs 4oz, Alec Hoare 3lbs 4oz and John Hern 3lbs.
