Snowbee Top Rod Competition April 13th - Hawkridge Bank

Round 2 of the Snowbee Top Rod Competition was up at Hawkridge near the village of Spaxton, just outside Bridgewater in Somerset.


Hawkridge is 32 acres and set in the Quantock Hills.


There was plenty of birdlife to be seen at the lake today ,Woodpeckers could be heard with a Peacock in the distance along with Candian Geese, Ducks (with a brood of 15) and Grebes on the water.


14 anglers made the trip and were met by Gary Howe the Ranger for tips and any advice.


Also met up with Jake Belgium who was fishing, great to catch up Jake.


Weather was a cooler 10 degrees, sunny spells with a generally light North Easterly wind.


Fish were free rising all day in all areas of the Lake.


Best tactics were Floating line with Diawl bachs, Damsels and Black and Green lures fished at different speeds,


14 anglers caught 62 fish for a bag weight of 156lbs 7oz


12 anglers caught their 5 fish limit.


Average catch 4.4


Average weight 2.7lbs


Best Fish of the day ( pictured below) was 6lbs 5oz Rainbow caught by Mike Steer of Bovey Tracey, followed by 4lbs 10oz caught by Ady Nuthall of Crediton with another 10 fish over 3lb including a 3lbs 4oz Spartic Trout for Mike Steer.
