Snowbee Top Rod Competition July 25th - Wimbleball Boat

Round 6 of the Snowbee Top Rod 2021 was at Wimbleball high on Exmoor near Brompton Regis.

The day started with a Full English breakfast at the George Inn in Brompton Regis, we were all there for 0800, thanks Mark and Trudi for organising.

After yesterday's rain and recent heatwave the temperature was cooler around 20 degs and a light NW wind.

Boats were all ready to go by 1000, thanks Trevor for preparing them for us.

After recent hot weather the temperature of the water was warm and the fish were deep in the cooler water, very few fish were seen rising during the day.

There were many people enjoying the activities at Wimbleball, with sailing, paddle boarding and kayaking so the majority of the boats headed for the Dam area which was quieter with less disturbance.

John Hern's electric outboard had an electrical failure and burnt out in the morning, John had to row for the rest of the day and luckily got towed back to the boat dock by Tom Hendy at the end of the day. Thanks Tom!

13 anglers made the trip and caught a total of just 6 fish for a bag weight of 13lbs 9oz.

Average catch .46

Average weight 2.31lbs

Best fish of the day went to Darren Penfold of Liverton - 3lbs 1oz
