Round 8 of the Snowbee Top Rod Competition was at Blagdon on the edge of the Mendip Hills near Bristol. The day started with a breakfast at the Sidcott Arms near by.
Weather was generally cloudy with sunny spells and a light Northerly wind with a temperature around 17 degrees.
Despite the lower water level, access to the boats was easy and we were all underway by 0945.
12 anglers made the trip for the annual event in Bristol where the " Fred Pike Cup" was today's prize.
Fish were caught in most areas of the lake but proved hard to locate, best tactics were floating line and small nymphs or submerged hoppers and an Intermediate line with pulled lures.
12 anglers caught 16 fish for a bag weight of 40lbs 4oz
Average catch - 1.3
Average weight 2.51lbs
Best fish of the day went to Chris Bolt - 3lbs 10oz, Mike Stone 3lbs 9oz, Bill Hande 3lbs 8oz, John Hern 3lbs 4oz and Alec Hoare 3lbs.

Blagdon has a number of Perch and Pike in the lake, Tom Hendy of Chudleigh picked up a prize for the best Pike of the day 3lbs and Gerry Scutt of Brixham won the raffle draw prize.

Bill Hande was fishing on the previous Thursday and caught this 20lb Pike on a black lure!
