Snowbee Top Rod Competition September 26th - Blagdon Boat

Round 8 of the Snowbee Top Rod was at Blagdon on the edge of the Mendip Hills near Bristol.


The day started with a breakfast stop at Brewers Fayre at the Sidcot Arms where a full english was had by all.


Early morning fog soon cleared and by the time the boats went out at 1000 the sun was out with light southerly winds, conditions looked ideal with a temperature of 19 degrees.


15 anglers made the trip for the annual trip to Bristol where the "Fred Pike Cup" was today's prize.


Fish were caught in all areas of the reservoir and best tactics were mini lures on DI3 lines.


15 anglers caught 39 fish for a bag weight 104lbs 4oz.


Average catch 2.6


Average weight 2.67lbs


Best fish of the day 3lbs 12oz - Alex Venn


Best Brown Trout caught and returned today was by Paul Wicks - 4lbs+

A number of Pike were caught today and a prize was given to the best Pike caught, estimated at 15-20lbs by Gerry Scutt of Brixham on a Black and Green lure! 2 others in the 8-10lb bracket were caught and released by Mike Stone of Starcross and John Hern of Exeter.
