Snowbee Top Rod Competition September 28th - Wimbleball Boats

Final Round 8 of the Snowbee Top Rod competition was at Wimbleball reservoir, high on Exmoor near Brompton Regis.

Weather forecast was a sunny day at 18 degrees with a light South Westerly wind.

13 anglers made the trip, having stopped for breakfast at Brewers Fayre in Exeter on the way.

We were met at the lake by Mark who sorted out the boats and lifejackets for us and we were out on the water by 0935 and fished until 1700 with the weigh in at 1730.

The lake is around 50% capacity so there is a lot of water missing making for some great pictures of the lake bed.

Wimbleball is 375 acres in size and 7 boats soon went to all areas of the lake to fish.

Fish were caught in all areas of the lake, towards Ruggs and Bessoms, Cow Moor, The Dam and Upton Arm all produced fish.

Best tactics were Intermediate and DI5 lines with Black and Green lures, Cats Whiskers and Boobies fished quite quickly. Many fish turned away at the flies and seemed to be just playing with the flies.

13 Anglers caught 31 fish for a bag weight of 67lbs 12oz

No one bagged up today but everyone caught fish.

Average catch was 2.4
