Round 2 of the Snowbee Top Rod Competition was up at Hawkridge near the village of Spaxton, just outside Bridgewater in Somerset.
Hawkridge is 32 acres and set in the Quantock Hills.
There was plenty of birdlife to be seen at the lake today ,Woodpeckers could be heard with a Peacock in the distance along with Candian Geese, Grebes on the water and lovely to see swallows back over the water. I can't remember the last time I saw swallows in March!
14 anglers made the trip and were met at the start of the Comp by Gary Howe the Ranger for tips and any advice.
Weather was a cool 10 degrees with a moderate NW wind and cloud
We broke our record for an early finish with everyone bagged by 1300.
14 anglers caught 70 fish for a bag weight of 174lbs 1oz
Average catch 5.0
Average weight - 2.5lbs
Fish were taken from all areas of the lake and best tactics were floating line and hot head damsels, diawl bachs, cats whiskers and nomads.
There were 10 fish recorded between 3-4lbs with the biggest fish taken by Paul Wicks at 3lbs 14oz
